R Doublebrand Man
Back to Horses On Tour
R Doublebrand Man had his shoes removed after he was cooled out following his last race on Saturday at the Vernon County Fair. He enjoyed his time off with his sister and a 2 year old Minnesota bred filly. February 1st Brand Man and his two lady friends were brought in, fitted with winter shoes and started training for the 2011 racing season. Initial plans were to have Brand Man ready to qualify in May for racing in June at Running Aces in Columbus, Minnesota. But the weather has not cooperated and he was turned out for 3 weeks in March and April. Revised plans are to have him qualified and in a couple of races before Rice Lake and then race throughout the summer at some county fairs in Wisconsin and Iron Wood, Michigan and at Running Aces. Brand Man has some nervous tendencies, you have to talk to him and let him know you are around him. He gets nervous at the starting gate hearing the other horses breathing and hoof beats. Wearing ear plugs has helped him to relax and stay on stride. Brand Man gets jogged at least 5 miles a day and then trains his fast miles and in between work he gets to relax in a grassy side pasture. Sounds like Brand Man has it made in Marshfield! UPDATE!Brandman sufferd a tendon injury in July, He was treated by Dr Kaprun and we started training after a short time off. He just was not handling himself right and a decision was made to stop training him and turn him out for this year. Both Brandman and his owners are already looking forward to the 2012 racing season.
